Pineapple Pants (enter code LATELY for 20% off)
If there is one thing I am (you can probably relate) is on the go! I love to find outfit pieces that take me to my workout to my life afterwards. This outfit is a simple yet pulled together look that I love. I actually have capri leggings on underneath here...can you tell? This works so well to do what I did today...teach Barre in the morning and then head to Trader Joes with my daughter. I also love pairing these versatile pants with a bright top like this. And please, how fun are these pineapple pants!?! (Look above for the code to score 20% off your order)
We know how important it is to eat healthy and be active. Those are key factors to leading a healthy life. Recently I was asked what tips I use that work for some very common frustrations...over eating and bloating. Next time you are at the grocery store, pick up some lemons and ground cinnamon...
To eliminate bloating, at night I drink a cup of warm water (warmed from kettle-not microwave) and squeeze 2-3 lemon slices (real lemons not artificial juice) into my mug. I call this my "lemon tea" and it does wonders for my digestion and overall ridding of bloating. Here's why:
The lemons have powerful antioxidants and are high in Vitamin C. As stated in Livestrong.com "having enough vitamin C intake, as opposed to being vitamin C-deficient, helps your body set off a series of chemical reactions that break down your body fat for use as energy." Also, the lemons act as a diuretic, aiding in digestion. You can read more about it here.
I use cinnamon right after my morning alarm goes off. I was a coffee creamer addict!! I would go to sleep dreaming about my cup of coffee in the morning with french vanilla creamer. I made a decision to try to shake this habit and switch to organic half and half. In February, (I remember that because it was my birthday morning) my husband brought me coffee in bed with half and half and ground cinnamon swirled by a cinnamon stick! I thought it was the best thing EVER!! So I have stuck with it ever since (cinnamon stick optional-ha!). Cinnamon actually imitates insulin, increasing the metabolism of glucose. And when you have low blood sugars, it decreases fat storage. "Cinnamon also delays the passing of food from the stomach into the intestine. Hence, you feel satisfied for a longer time and eat less." According to Fitday.com.
These are just a few tips to tackle the annoying things that can make us so body conscious. Although, these things should never replace a healthy and active lifestyle or your doctors receommendations. I just like to share what works for me. Thanks for reading!
